PAINTING

After gaining an "O Level" in art in the mid 1970's and having done nothing since, I was encouraged in 2004 by family and friends to get back into art, and so joined the local art group in Epworth to take up the brushes once again.

The end results of my first attempts, though far from perfect were promising. Since then with practice and hard work I have gone on to grow in confidence and ability, now adding acrylics to the mediums I use, and it is these that form the basis of my work.

Since those early days I have managed to sell my work at craft and art fairs, and have had several commissions. To those people, I will always be grateful, as it is they who have helped give me the confidence to carry on. I also now have my own web site and have appeared on BBC local radio. Some of my work can also be seen around Scunthorpe Hospital where it is on permanent display.

All of my work is plain, simple, bright and colourful, with a very heavy "Impressionistic" theme, mainly covering still life, landscapes and floral themes, working on hardboard, acrylic paper and board, and canvas. Recently I have also started to work on children’s cartoons.

Please note that none of my work is framed, but some do have a card mount to better display the finished article. Frames, I think, are a very personal thing, and best bought afterwards to match the surrounds of where an item will be hung and displayed.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy my work now, and in the future.
