I first began painting around 1997, after
unfortunately I had started to develop
health problems. At first I tried all sorts
of subjects, mainly in watercolours, but
with my love of animals, I soon found I
was drawn to painting them, mainly dogs.
At first it was family and friends pets,
and then went onto some commissions. Recently I have also been enjoying
painting cows and horses, with a hopefully
comical slant. I like to paint something
that will make people smile, and get a great
deal of satisfaction from that. I also love encaustic art, which is painting
with coloured wax blocks, using a small
iron and a stylus. I use tattoos in some of
the fantasy work, as you are unable to do
detailed images, but I love some of the
effects and textures that can be achieved
by the wax. Although my health problems do restrict
me, my art has brought a lot of pleasure
and satisfaction into my life.
